Your Mission

As Team Lead – Hydraulic Design, you will play a key role in shaping the hydraulic systems behind our European customization options for our reliable construction machines.
You will lead the development of robust, high-performance hydraulic solutions—from early concept to production release, ensuring our machines meet the highest standards in safety, durability, efficiency, and compliance.
This is a role where engineering excellence meets leadership: you guide technical direction, inspire your team, and help bring innovative machine solutions to life.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Lead the hydraulic design and development of European customization options for construction machinery products
  • Develop hydraulic concepts, circuit designs, component selections, and integration solutions for Hitachi base machines
  • Coordinate hydraulic design activities from requirement definition through feasibility, concept development, detailed design, prototype build, validation, and release
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrialization teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Act as the technical focal point for hydraulic topics with HCM engineering teams through alignment meetings
  • Ensure hydraulic designs meet performance, durability, safety, serviceability, and manufacturability requirements
  • Lead hydraulic risk assessments, problem solving, and design reviews during development
  • Support prototype builds, machine testing, validation activities, and issue resolution with internal stakeholders, suppliers, dealers, and customers
  • Ensure all hydraulic systems comply with EU regulations and standards while conforming to Hitachi global requirements
  • Contribute to design documentation, BOM release, engineering changes, and technical approvals up to start of sales
 
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Fluid Power Engineering, or related field
  • Several years of experience in hydraulic system design and development, preferably in construction machinery, agricultural machinery, automotive off-highway, or heavy equipment
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic circuits, components, machine interfaces, and attachment applications
  • Experience leading engineering projects or technical teams in a cross-functional environment
  • Knowledge of product development processes from concept to launch
  • Familiarity with prototype validation, risk assessment, and engineering change processes
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Pro-active mindset, strong ownership, and excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in an international matrix organization and align with colleagues across Europe and Japan
  • Genuine interest in Hitachi products and construction machinery
 

What We Offer
  • Compensation built of a yearly gross salary between €70,000and €102,500 (including holiday allowance and based on experience) + a guaranteed bonus (4%)
